IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PENSIONERS The Department of Pension, Colombo has
issued Circular No. 01/2018 dated 20/06/2018 regarding payment of pensions to
Sri Lankan pensioners resident abroad. It is mandatory to produce a Life
Certificate to the Department of Pensions every year before 31 March through
the High Commission.

Life Certificate Requirement
A Life Certificate must be submitted every year before 31 March through the High Commission.
When submitting through the High Commission, the pensioner may either visit the High Commission or send the Life Certificate by mail/post.
Life Certificates certified by the High Commission are forwarded to the Department of Pensions by DPL bag.

Certification
will be carried out by an authorized officer in the High Commission. For
identification purposes, bring one of the following documents: Pension ID
Card, Passport, Sri Lankan NIC, or Driver's License.
By mail/post
The
duly filled Life Certificate, with a copy of valid passport / Sri Lankan NIC,
should be certified by an Honorary Consul, JP, or GP before sending by post.
The
2026 Life / Residence Certificate states that the pensioner must sign both
page 1 and page 2 (Mandatory)

Required
if submitting by mail/post; include signature and official seal where
applicable.

Valid passport copy
The
official page mentions valid passport copy for mail submission. The 2026 form
also states that a certified copy of valid passport must be attached.

Sri Lankan Bank Account Requirement
All Sri Lankan pensioners, including those residing overseas, are required to hold a Sri Lankan bank account to which their pension will be paid.
Pensioners currently receiving their Sri Lankan pension through the High Commission in Canberra are requested to take immediate action to open a bank account in Sri Lanka.
The official page directs pensioners to follow instructions on the Department of Pensions website for opening a bank account.
Application forms to open bank accounts can be sent through the High Commission.

The High Commission is not responsible for any document lost in the post.
Incomplete applications will not be certified by the High Commission.
