The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Canberra participated in the Moonlit Markets, hosted by the University of Canberra on 18 September 2026. The event gathered a diverse community, including members of the diplomatic corps, students, and local Canberra residents.
The High Commission set up a dedicated stall aimed at promoting Sri Lankan culture and tourism. Visitors were treated to complimentary Ceylon Tea tastings and were informed about the distinct tea regions and their flavours that make Sri Lankan tea globally renowned. Alongside the tea experience, the stall offered an array of traditional Sri Lankan pastry items.
A major highlight of the evening was a vibrant cultural dance performance organized by the High Commission, which brought Sri Lanka's rich performing arts heritage to life.
The Moonlit Markets provided a platform to foster cultural exchange, strengthen community ties, and promote Sri Lanka as a premier destination for cultural heritage, cuisine, and tourism among the international and local communities in Canberra.
