The High Commission of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Canberra, Australia
- A death can be registered by the High Commission and Consulate General offices under section 7 of the Consular Functions Act., if the deceased is a citizen of Sri Lankan AND the death occurred in a country of accreditation (i.e Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu,, Samoa and Solomon Island);
- Who can apply for the registration of death?
- The nearest relative of the deceased, who was present at the time of death or was in attendance during the last illness of the deceased,
- A relative of the deceased who resides in the country where the death occurred
- If there is no such relative, any person who was present at the death
- The main occupant of the house where the death occurred
- The doctor in charge of the hospital or public institution where the death occurred
- If there are no such persons, the person who takes action to dispose of the deceased by burial, cremation or by any other means.

| 1. | Process of making a request | Parents/family member or spouse of the deceased (NOK) has to make a written request with an affidavit to the High Commission or Consulate Offices through the Consular Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Colombo Sri Lanka. |
