Consular Services

The Sri Lanka High Commission in Canberra provides a range of consular services to Sri Lankan citizens and eligible applicants residing in Australia and several Pacific countries. These include Australia, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu. Applicants residing in Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania are generally advised to submit consular applications to the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne. Following the closure of the Sri Lanka Consulate General in Sydney, consular services for residents of New South Wales and Queensland are handled by the Sri Lanka High Commission in Canberra.

·         Repatriation of human remains and ashes

·         Registration of marriages (in Sri Lanka or at the Mission)

·         Dual citizenship applications

·         Certification, authentication, and attestation of documents

·         Driving licence-related services

·         Child adoption procedures

·         Renunciation of Sri Lankan citizenship

Submission of Applications

Applications may be submitted through:

1. Postal or courier services (preferred method)
2. In-person submission at the High Commission counter

Applicants are encouraged to use postal or courier services whenever possible for efficiency and convenience.

Consular Fees

All consular fees are charged in accordance with the relevant Government of Sri Lanka Gazette notifications. Applicants are advised to refer to the latest official fee schedule before submitting applications.

Saturday Consular Services

Limited consular services are available on Saturdays by prior appointment only. Appointments are required for security and administrative arrangements.

Registration with the High Commission

Sri Lankan citizens, former citizens, persons of Sri Lankan origin, and Sri Lankan community organisations are encouraged to register with the High Commission. This assists in improving communication and community engagement.
