Alterations or Amendments to Passports – Change of Profession
1. When can a passport profession alteration or amendment be requested?
A passport profession alteration or amendment may be requested when an applicant wishes to update or change the profession stated in their Sri Lankan passport.
Applicants must submit relevant documentary evidence from their employer and/or the relevant professional institute to support the requested amendment.
2. Where to Apply
Applicants should forward their applications to the Sri Lankan Mission closest to their place of residence.

3. Application Checklist
Applicants are required to submit the following documents:

| Outside Australia | AUD 17.00 + Applicant is responsible for arranged prepaid currier service to return documents. (per amendment) |
Applicants outside Australia, including Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and Samoa, must arrange a prepaid courier service for the return of documents.
5. Payment Method
Applicants visiting the High Commission or Consulate General in person may make payments by cash or card.
Personal or company cheques will not be accepted.
Applicants submitting applications by post should wait for payment instructions. Bank details will be provided by email after the application is received.
Applicants should not send money orders, bank drafts, or directly transfer funds to the High Commission or Consulate bank accounts without prior instructions. Any loss, shortage or delay resulting from such payments will be the responsibility of the applicant.
6. Important Notes
- Fees will not be refunded under any circumstances after an official receipt has been issued.
- Translations will not be accepted as originals.
- All photocopies must be submitted on A4 size paper.
- The High Commission will attest the submitted documents and return the originals to the applicant.
- Applicants requiring urgent document delivery or return through express courier, speed post, or any other courier service must make their own arrangements.
- The High Commission cannot accept responsibility for documents lost or delayed through postal or courier services.
7. Submission Instructions
Applicants should complete the required application form and submit all supporting documents to the relevant Sri Lankan Mission by post or in person.
Applicants are advised to ensure that all compulsory documents are enclosed before submission to avoid delays in processing.
